Sites without a usable network are no longer a dead end. Together with our partner Numerisat we can now put a private 5G network on the site itself: core, radios, and satellite backup where there is no fixed line, with ELIAN running on top of it.
We spent two days with the Numerisat team at Le Bourget-du-Lac putting ELIAN edge computing into the European Smart Mountain 5G project, both inside the 5G core hosted at Numerisat and out in the field, on the pilot site at Aussois. Moving compute next to the data cuts response times and opens the door to real-time video processing, intelligent analysis of camera streams, IoT sensor ingest, 3D digital twins and distributed AI, right where the people and the equipment are. It is another building block for Smart Mountain 5G and a working demonstration of what private 5G, IoT, edge computing and AI do together for mountain territories. Your sites just became your own private cloud. Your software now runs directly on ELIAN edge nodes: published once to a central catalogue, then rolled out across the entire fleet from one screen. Staged rollouts, health checks and one-click undo are built in. Every app runs fully sandboxed, so third-party code cannot reach the core platform or your data. Apps only declare the ports they need, with no Kubernetes expertise required, and they keep running on site when connectivity drops, catching up automatically once the link is back.

Detect, count and alert entirely on site, with no 24/7 video streaming to the cloud. The ELIAN machine vision module turns any standard IP camera into an AI sensor: 80 object classes detected in real time and tunable per camera, detection zones and counting lines for footfall, occupancy and vehicle flow, automatic clips in a searchable event library, face blur applied on-device before any clip leaves the edge, and bandwidth-smart sync that keeps detecting and recording when the cloud is unreachable.
Most operations platforms assume your remote sites have a rock-solid connection to the cloud. Out at water networks and edge factories, the link drops exactly when things go wrong. ELIAN puts the edge first: live telemetry, edge AI vision, 3D digital twins and task management are consolidated on hardware that keeps working on its own, then brings the cloud back up to date the moment the link returns.
